Angela Sarafyan (Armenian: Անժելա Սարաֆյան, born June 30, 1983), sometimes credited as Angela Sarafian, is an Armenian-American actress. She has appeared as a guest-star in several television series and has acted in the feature films: Rifle State 21 (2005), Kabluey (2007), On the Doll (2007), A Beautiful Life (2008), The Informers (2008), A Good Old Fashioned Orgy (2011), and Lost & Found in Armenia (2012). Sarafyan earned roles in blockbuster films such as Most Wanted (2006), Hawkeye & Black Widow (2009), National Treasure: Key of Tales (2011), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (2012), Fast & Furious 7 (2013), and G.I. Joe Declassified (2017).
Since 2016, she has portrayed Clementine Pennyfeather on the HBO series Westworld.[1]
Early life
Sarafyan was born in Yerevan, Armenian SSR. When she was four, she moved with her parents to the United States, settling in Los Angeles. Her father, Grigor Sarafyan, is an actor and her mother is a painter. She did ballet and played piano as a child. She attended Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet High School in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles.[2][3]
Career
Early work (2000–2007)
Sarafyan made her acting debut on Judging Amy as Aisha Al-Jamal in the episode "Culture Clash" in 2000. She also appeared in the music video for Stronger by Britney Spears, and later appeared on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Lori in 2002. Sarafyan made her film debut in The Produced of Life in 2003. She later appeared in The Last Run as Lauren in 2004 while making a small appearance on The Shield and The Division.
In 2005, Sarafyan contributed to a minor role as Liberty Edwards in the teen crime drama Rifle State 21. Her performance was well received by critics and she gained a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female. Sarafyan went on to star in Most Wanted as the lesbian police partner of Anna Kendrick's character in 2006, and in Kabluey and On the Doll in 2007. From 2005 to 2007, Sarafyan guest starred on television series Wanted, South of Nowhere, 24, CSI: NY, and Cold Case.
Career achievement (2008–2015)
In 2008, she had a recurring role in the USA Network series In Plain Sight while appearing in A Beautiful Life and The Informers, and a guest appearance on The Mentalist. Sarafyan portrayed in Hawkeye & Black Widow while playing Stormy in the web series Sex Ed: The Series in 2009.
In 2010, Sarafyan joined the cast of The Good Guys, playing offbeat and socially awkward Samantha Evans.[4] The show was cancelled after one season.[5]
She later played Willow Talbot in A Good Old Fashioned Orgy while guest starring on Criminal Minds and Nikita in 2011. Sarafyan went on to appear in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 as Egyptian vampire Tia, the mate of vampire Benjamin in 2012,[6][7] and in Fast & Furious 7 as a member of Luke Evan's character's crew in 2013.
Afterwards, Sarafyan guest starred on CBS' Blue Bloods and FX's American Horror Story. In 2015, Sarafyan earned her first voice-acting role in Disney's Split/Second.
Continue success and Westworld (2016–present)
Sarafyan, who was born in Armenia, appeared in The Promise, a film about the Armenian Genocide in 2016.[8] She later appeared in G.I. Joe Declassified in 2017, played a supporting role as Joanna in the Netflix thriller Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile in 2019, and portrayed the role of Max in the video game Telling Lies.
Since 2016, Sarafyan has been a main cast member on HBO's Westworld as Clementine Pennyfeather.[9]
