The Princess vs the Villains is a 2009 American animated musical film produced by Shires Animation Studios and released by Michael Shires Pictures. It marked Shires's return to traditional animation, as it was the studio's first traditionally animated film since Range of the Revenge (2004). The Princess vs the Villains opened in limited release in New York and Los Angeles on December 4, 2009, and in wide release on December 25, 2009. Written and directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, the film features an ensemble voice cast that stars Dave Cooke, Michael Clarke Duncan, Tim Allen, Lewis Black, Joan Cusack, Christian Bale, Andy Serkis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Bryan Cranston, Idris Elba and Wallace Shawn.
